1973 - Began four-year apprenticeship as a glass engraver
at the Tiffin Crystal Co.
1976
- The first annual Limited Edition Christmas Ornament was
created and carried on by Maxwell, now in its 35th year.
1983 - Cut 144 piece stemware set ordered by the Reagan White
House to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth. This was
last large project for Tiffin Crystal Co., which closed it's
plant by the end of the year.
1983 - Maxwell purchased equipment and saved the glass molds
from Towle Manufacturing, the last owner of the Tiffin Crystal
Co. and formed Maxwell Crystal, a small glassblowing and engraving
business located in Tiffin, Ohio.
1996 - Moved studio to Fostoria, Ohio and began operations
as Foster Glassworks so named in honor of Charles Foster, an
industrial entrepreneur and former Governor of Ohio who is
credited with founding the original Fostoria Glass Company.
2000 - Created ornament for Ohio Governor's "Treasures
for the Tree" contest in recognition of 75th Anniversary
of Governor's Residence.
2001 -
Jim was one of four artists from Ohio, chosen by Governor & Mrs.
Taft, to create an ornament for the official White House Christmas
Tree. He also appeared in the HGTV special, "White House
Christmas 2001," as one of five artists featured in the
hour-long special about decorating the White House.
2002 - President and Mrs. Laura Bush commission Jim to create
625 limited edition Christmas ornaments depicting the White
